This and we get to drive by the tent people in Linconia by duke st. And I agree with the PP about the insane utilities. $120 a month for ONE bathroom for just the water and sewer bill! I don't have 5 toilets! I have one! The comcast monopoly, $220 a month for cable and internet (basic cable).  It's a NOPE all the way around. [/quote]

Nearly a 20 year resident here and not one thing the PP said was untrue. If you know anyone who lived here before Ting arrived last year, the Comcast complaint among residents was pretty common.

Do you remember when you could get from one side of the city to the next in 15 minutes or so? Now it's 45 minutes or more say from old town to the west end. Those were the days.

Do you remember when crime wasn't a thing? Where your bike or property didn't get stolen or your car broken into?

Remember when it was quaint? Livable and more affordable?

When utilities weren't through the roof?

AMEN! Going to the grocery store is an event now. Over a hour to grab a few small things! Need gas and food? Plan on 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours at least in "off" times too. It's just too much time, stress and chaos running basic errands now.  [/quote]

Huh? If you live in Old Town, it takes 5-10 minutes. Just hop on your bike or walk down the street to Trader Joes, Harris Teeter, Safeway, Balduccis, Whole Foods...[/quote]

Old Town is only a very small part of the City of Alexandria. And you better enjoy it now while it's still there as it will be submerged:
