Well that's a different question entirely. One I can't help you with because I'm a white, well-educated, new rich, usually Republican voter who doesn't want to see more and more of my hard-earned money being taken by Democrats and going to God-knows-what and not doing much good. And, yes, I'm a woman and I have daughters.
This is something I see lots of -- lots of seemingly educated people who vote Republican mostly because they're rich and want to keep their money. Okay, I get it. That's the priority for some -- hell, if I were rich, who knows? Maybe I too wouldn't want to share a tiny percentage of my wealth with people who really need it. But anyway, what about all of the lower-to-middle class people who vote for R/R? That I don't get. The rich and greedy people, okay, maybe I can understand your position a bit. But those who aren't rich - why are you voting for R/R? ANd nobody has chimed in on that PP who asked a R/R supporter to provide some basics on these candidates' positions/plans on some of the top issues. I can't find that information anywhere!!
No rational definition of 42% (paid in taxes last year) is considered "tiny."
Good point. I didn't realize the percentage was so high. Was it lower under Bush?
I don't know, we weren't earning as much when Bush was president. But it's certain that it will be higher in the next 4 years under OB than it would be under RR.
How are you certain of this? Crystal ball? Obama is honest about wanting the rich to pay their fair share. R/R will just be sneaky about it. If they do even a fraction of what they tlak about in their grandiose statements, then you can bet your bottom dollar that they will have to raise your taxes! how would you expect them to balance the budget, keep growing the military/invading the middle east, etc. if they don't raise taxes? Do like Bush did and leave the whole big mess for the next guy? And then attack him for not being able to clean up 8 years of disaster in less than four?
No one argues that taxes will be lower under Obama. Only you. What's that tell you?
This tells me that you haven't even looked at the Ryan Plan, haven't talked to very many people, and have not done any research. According to the analysis by the Center for Tax Justice, 80% of us will pay more taxes under R/R than Obama. A number of other sources show the same. Look it up.
No one believes that taxes will be lower under Obama. You can cite all the "research" and "sources" you want. No one believes that taxes will be lower under Obama.
Um, can YOU cite any research or sources? Most people are extremely alarmed by the content of Ryan's plan because it contains tax hikes for 80%. It did become a moot point for awhile because the plan was dead, until he was selected for VP and Romney embraced it. ever since then, it has been all over the placeSooo, for the past 2 weeks, this has been a major story. How have you missed that? Try to keep up. Oh wait. You only watch FOX News, don't you? Yeah, I'm sure they aren't talking about it over there...
http://taxfoundation.org/article/tax-equity-and-growth-nonpayers I can. Let's hope society's takers finally put some more skin in the game. This country is FUNDED more by the top 5% than the bottom 95% Get that through your thick head.
You have no idea what this means, do you? this is about nonpayers. Do you know what a nonpayer is? A nonpayer is someone who, after taking advantage of all the legal tax credits and deductions, has zero tax liability. It shows an example of how a family with a $45,000* income can come up with zero tax liability. It also states where each of these credits and deductions came from. Many of them came from republicans. So, yep, because of these credits, at least half of those with HHI less than $40,000 will be nonpayers. But it's all legal, and the majority was a result of republican policy. Huge jump in nonpayers during the Bush years. How does this provide evidence that taxes would be lower under Romney than Obama? *Before you assume that someone with a lowly HHI of $45,000 is just a step above welfare, please be aware that this is a very respectable income in many parts of the country. If you make $150,000 in DC, someone with the same job in other areas might make $40,000 and live at the same comfort level that you do.
