Name a single DC-area club that swims outside in winter
NCap AU swims at Montgomery Square twice a week outside, year-round NCap Prep swims at Montgomery Square and one other outdoor site when Prep is closed Tollefson swims at Inverness twice a week year-round They only cancel if the air temps are below 30 or if the pool heaters can't get the water temps up to a certain level
What does this have to do with anything? No RMSC group swims outside in the winter. Those parents agreed to it, we did not.
You seem like an angry elf. The county hasn’t planned well or communicated well about these changes. That said swimming outside is a real potential solution for RMSC, as it is for other local clubs. It’s not ideal, I don’t think anyone given the choice of an indoor option near the KSAC would choose swimming outdoors, but as the county has stated, swimming outdoors is likely at least some of the time. You are welcome to find another club or site.
You realize there was a poster up thread that told people to name a club that swam outside in the winters, apparently confident that such a thing couldn’t possibly be true, right?
Unfortunately for that poster clubs do swim outside. We aren’t trying to push some propaganda on here, we are just stating it’s very common.
Those clubs have nothing to do with RMSC. It's not comparable.
There is more demand for pool time than there is pool space. RMSC seldom has this problem because county rec gives them lane space. When the KSAC closes they will not have the lane space to accommodate all of their previous lane time at indoor pools. So like other clubs, they now have more demand than pool time and will likely swim outdoors. If you repeat that silver spring is convenient for you though maybe they’ll move all your kids practices there
