Well, yea Putin and Trump are buddies, and Trump hates NATO since he doesn't believe in having allies, so Putin doesn't feel threatened when Trump is in power.

You're thinking that Putin didn't invade Ukraine because he was scared of Trump. No, that's not why. Putin is scared of NATO, and also knows that Trump dislikes Ukraine for not opening an investigation into Biden.   Putin has nothing to fear from Trump.

Ukrainian leaders became enthusiastic about joining NATO in 2018.   Zelensky, a NATO supporter, wins election 2019.  Trump loses 2020, and Biden is more likely to support NATO and Ukraine, thus making Putin feel threatened by NATO (and Ukraine).  Putin had to invade Ukraine before they joined NATO, otherwise, Russia would be up against NATO.
