Valor GFR top teams are 2nd tier teams statewide. Parents on those teams don’t know it, as they have only ever been on the top team winning local tournaments.
except when RL teams beat ECNL teams then it sure does get confusing
You rarely get to see RL teams matched up against ECNL teams. They know it's a bad look for that to happen and those matches are few and far between.
When has that happened?
It's always happened. Tournament directors and clubs scheduling aren't stupid. Teams have dodged other teams that aren't in the same league but may be equally as strong forever. It's the same reason clubs in areas with a lot strong teams go elsewhere for tournaments rather than play locally. You lose locally, you lose customers.
Ummm, no. Tournament directors try to keep things competitive. RL teams are not competitive with ECNL teams unless you are talking about the bottom of the teams. I think most would expect Top RL teams to be competitive in that scenario. Please, by all means, give A FEW examples of any RL team beating a top half ECNL team without citing forfeits or Solar. I’ll be waiting right here …for a long time.
You can do your own lookups. There are many examples. I will not post here simply because identifying specific nl or rl teams leads to disparagement of them. Look it up yourself. The difference is not that great if at all
I don’t have to look since I already follow closely. Depends on the RL vs NL matchup. I agree that top RL teams can compete with bottom NL teams but that is it, especially in our region. The only exceptions are maybe the top 5 RL teams in the US, Solar, DKSC, Blues and a couple randoms. In the past year this is the record of RL vs NL teams in our area: 11s - Zero 10s - Zero 09s - One (GFR over last place Riverhounds NL) 08s - Zero 07s - Zero Counted roughly 22 matchups RL vs NL. Four were two ties. All wins and ties came against bottom of the table ECNL teams. Summary RL vs. NL 2-16-4 Now you know why tournament coordinators don’t schedule RL vs NL very often. That isn’t very competitive. Don’t shoot the messenger.
