The city is currently offering a $25K bonus to new recruits. This gives a 1st year officer a total comp of $80K, plus $6K housing assistance from DC, plus overtime (pretty much AYCE buffet).

What's the bottleneck with recruiting? This city graduates a bunch of kids from HS who could go straight into cadet corps and MPD. Is it the drug disqualification?

The Defund the Police/ACAB movement made it very unpopular to be a cop.   We will need to try much harder to find good people now.  So self-defeating.   One of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen “educated” people buy into.[/quote]

What’s worse is that the ACAB crowd have put away their Antifa shirts and washed out the purple hair die and are now sneaking into elected office in DC.
