I’m a 50yo divorced mom who makes $240K and has $3M NW and I thought I was doing okay until this thread.
You should be making twice from what you stated if your assets are well-managed
? How does earned income have anything to do with how assets are managed?
Assets/NW should be generating at least 7% annual return or sheds basically depleting them and her earned income. So if 240k is earned, she should be making also about same in unearned income
What on earth are you talking about? She isn’t retired so she isn’t depleting anything.
Oh great so she lives in a $3mm mansion making 250k . Super smart
Are you a troll? It doesn’t say that. She said $250K salary with $3M assets. Assets doesn’t mean just equity it’s a combo of equity and retirement and wherever else. You don’t know the allocation. Maybe she lives in a $100K condo for all you know.
She says she was making 250k (presumably employment income) plus $3mm assets. The question is why she’s not counting income from assets towards her gross income? People with that NW usually have brokerage accounts, rentals, investments - not just a huge retirement plan or a huge house.
Presumably because she is letting it compound instead of living off of it.
Hopefully
