APE is truly hiding their true intentions. Right now they're all about "improving learning outcomes" and saying all the right things (but very much mirroring what PDE and IWF is saying without the culture wars rhetoric), but with Miranda on the Board and them infiltrating all of the other community groups, I won't be surprised when all Arlington will all be talking about banning books and denying Transgender rights again. I blame the ACDC who did not vet them and took Miranda at her word. Nobody I know wants to vote for her. Not any of the APS teachers who live in Arlington who had to put up with their harassment during the pandemic, not anyone who cares about minority kids. Probably not even the four people who will have to work with her, no matter what anonymous people say anonymously. I'm leaving her vote blank.
I’m guessing they are going to lean into “school choice” and more subtle ways to tear down APS.
What does that even mean? Arlington County can't issue vouchers.
But APE can certainly advocate for that.
Then why are they putting out anti-choice "articles" in their newsletter? https://www.arlingtonparentsforeducation.org/enews/e-news-october-31-2023
That's such an ignorant article, so much wrong in there. Typical of the APE newsletters.
What’s wrong with it? They use APS data to show how much smaller the class sizes are and to show how many are trying to get into it. Not sure about the comment that most of our elected officials have kids there. Is that true? TBH i’m not a fan of our option schools or APE for that matter.
They cherrypicked the data. And they are uninformed about HB staffing vs neighborhood school staffing. Or if they do know, they conveniently left that part out.
