DC has crime issues that it needs to deal with, but it isn't Fallujah or Mogadishu, either. The truth is somewhere BETWEEN where the "don't talk about crime" morons are and the other extreme of hyperbolic rants about having to strap iron and moving out of the city
It’s a lot closer to the “other extreme” than you seem capable of realizing. If you read the WSJ story, they literally have an old lady saying that she now carries a gun to go to work. DC has a higher per capital murder rate now than Baltimore. As has been written about repeatedly, it is one of the only big cities in the country where violent crime continues to rise since it spiked everywhere during COVID. The situation right is bad and the city is in bad shape. Just this year two members of Congress have been violent crime victims. DC’s violent crime is now making international news and I don’t think the CBC or BBC are invested in trying to diminish DC out of some racist conspiracy. There is no reason to downplay the situation just because you don’t want to validate a small minority of loud mouth morons.
