Not just "poor" people - teachers, police, nurses. These people used to be able to buy in the neighborhood. In fact many of the current retirees living here are former DC government employees. Now they can't afford to live anywhere in DC. Some of us don't want to live solely amongst rich and entitled snots.[/quote]

Then move further out or to other neighborhoods. What makes you think you, or anyone, has the RIGHT to live in areas where people worked and saved for decades to afford.

There are many options other than areas where the avg income is 300k + and median homes 1.5M +.  It’s a fish out of water scenario, like it or not.

Nobody is taking your property.  It’s a piece of government land and the government wants to partner with a private developer to build affordable housing, market-rate housing, and an improved community center. Nobody is kicking you out, but you may have to share the public spaces with other people.  This is one of the best affordable housing proposals I’ve seen in a long time so you may want to get used to the idea.  This is happening.[/quote]
