They offer the ideas, the party line if you please, and then companies are happy to act along these lines because they think it’s good for business.
Self sensorship and all that.
Worked with federal covid rules too - some states went even further than the official party line, it was insane.
In our school district, the sup was the last one to stop mandating masks at school - all the neighboring districts made them recommended but he wouldn’t cave until parents brought in what was characterized as a maga mob who filmed a preschool kid being denied education due to mask refusal (she was special needs and couldn’t be assessed because she wouldn’t wear a mask). The county board of education didn’t like that publicity and basically told him to cave. Lots of indignation ensued but it was the only way to make him snap out of it, unfortunately. Things like that make me want to vote GOP tbh. [/quote]
