This one is not true. Kate's makeup is, and always has been atrocious. Her blush is frequently very garish and the dated ring of harsh black eyeliner that she hasn't changed in 20+ years does her NO favors. Meghan does much better on keeping it fresh and tasteful on the makeup front. Kate is pure Estee Lauder counter circa 1996. [/quote]

I also just think comparing the two couples is silly. They lead very different lives, in different countries, and different resources.

Kate and William always look extremely polished because they are making public appearances on behalf of the royal family multiple times a week. They are extremely conservative in their clothes and appearance as they are representatives of the family and William is a future king. They look very pulled together, but it's an extremely controlled effort. Even their kids look carefully smoothed and ironed in public, and you can tell that Kate stresses over this, as she often fusses over them at public events. Etiquette and being proper are of primary importance. Kate sometimes does want to look fashionable, too, but it's this extremely restrictive type of fashionable -- it's like the gentlest update possible on what QEII wore at the same age.

Meghan is American, she's not married to a future king, she's a former actress. She seems to enjoy playing with fashion a bit more and doesn't mind having a miss here and there if it affords her a chance to try out a trend. She like color and making a statement but also obviously values comfort. There's definitely a strong California vibe to a lot of her clothes, which makes sense since that's where she's from. I don't think you have to like everything she wears (I don't) but I do appreciate that she has a bit of fun with it. And since she and Harry no longer work for the family, are much more minimal in their public appearances, and when they do go out in public it tends to be casual and not "official" in any way, I think you have to evaluate her in a different way.
