Depends on what qualifies as "the area." We moved from a different part of the county, so still MCPS, and the Tilden parents are different than what we had encountered before. If you're talking about the general Rockville/Bethesda/Potomac area, then they might not be different than the other nearby schools. [/quote]

Again, I can only speak based on my experience as a parent at Tilden compared to the other part of the county where we live. My child attends Tilden for a special program; it is not our home school. After attending BTSN, several PTA meetings, and some of the virtual events that were supposed to be to town hall type sessions with the principal, I was just overwhelmed by the amount of parents, and their audacity, who thought these were opportunities for them to hog the floor, complain about very specific-to-their-child topics, talk over the admin/teachers/leaders who were running the meeting, and demand answers without listening to them. Nothing got accomplished, Most of the teachers at BTSN couldn't even get through their "these are the topics we'll cover" two minute slide presentation without parents jumping in to ask about a specific assignment or why their child wasn't placed in a more advanced class. At the recent event meant to address the anti-Semitic incidents at the school, parents flooded the chat and the zoom objecting to their children being questioned about it, as if it was more upsetting for a child to be asked "do you know who did this?" than to see the actual hate symbols themselves and know someone at their school drew them. One parent said it was unfair to ask kids to rat out their friends. My response would've been, if your friends are doing this, you need to speak up.

And so on. My dealings with other parents have been fine, they're nice people from what I've seen. But in general, I definitely see more entitlement, less respect for teachers/admin, and just lots of butting in. You might see that as parental involvement, but in my kids' other schools, parents seem to be involved without insisting that they know better than everyone else. And the best part... nothing gets accomplished at these events because nobody will LISTEN. And then complaints about questions being unanswered. Again, maybe that's just the Bethesda/Potomac way, but it's not what we experienced in other parts of MoCo. So I can't say whether the parents at Tilden are more/less obnoxious than other nearby schools.

Yes, Tilden parent community is part of the problem here.

Given how poorly Tilden is doing and going downhill, there are two possibilities. Either Tilden parent community has more issues than others in area or admin is weak in Tilden.  I would guess it's combination of two.[/quote]
