I don’t think the kid actually was rude, and I’ve had my kids host some rude kids. I think this kid just surprised you by being a sentient human and having any sort of request, so even though it’s a reasonable request that didn’t put you out (and it sounds like the kid was fine with you not meeting it), they weren’t being rude.
