He takes my card and swipes it, turns the screen toward me quickly and goes “just hit okay right there.” I had a long line of people behind me and two kids bouncing around waiting for their (again, already incredibly overpriced hot chocolate). So I hit okay without really looking. Right as I hit the button I realize there are tip box options and it was pre-set to 25%! I mean really? Who in their right mind would tip 25% for hot cocoa poured out of a giant jug? I didn’t feel like making a fuss so I just took the drinks and moved along.

But it turned me off of ever going back there. It was so crowded, the food options were awful and overpriced. My family spent so much money and this felt like a sly money grab. I bet the people ordering the $24 light up drinks didn’t even notice the automatic tip, so I bet it was a cash cow.
