Anonymous wrote: The bus driver bears a lot of responsibility in this. But the problem is that the politicians don't back the drivers (or the police) so the boots-on-the-ground drivers don't want to stick their necks out. It will be interesting to see what the emergency protocol is for violence on a bus. But the driver did the right thing by not intervening. Not in the most heavily armed nation in the world. She or he deserves to go home to their family too.
And that is the attitude that lets the uncivilized brutalize everybody else, particularly in low income communities.
Come on, it’s a bus driver, not a police officer or security guard. The driver should have at least let the victim off the bus if she wanted it.
As a human the bus driver could have called 911 for aid to assist the woman after she was tossed off of the bus. She was also yelling out to the bus driver for at least 7 minutes or so to stop the bus, i.e. she clearly was in distress.
How do you know that the bus driver didn’t call 911? And where did you get 7 minutes. Also how do you know the bus driver knew. If the bus was loud and crowded, given that drivers are in plexiglass compartments, it’s entirely possible that the driver didnt know so I’m wondering how you reached your conclusions.
