This is not the final season. It has been renewed for a sixth and final season.

If Serena is not married off, or lots of talk of it after a period of mourning or when the baby reaches a certain age, it will be most shark-jumping, unrealistic thing ever. Everyone in Gilead has a role. And a fertile woman's role is as a wife. Or if she commits a transgression, as a Handmaid. You don't just get a house and food and a Martha and all the things without the husband.

I thought the second episode of this season was really good. The first episode was a weird, terrible jumble - hated it. Almost all of it could have been covered in flashbacks. I feel like this season is going to be slow. The loss of Alexis Bledel is a blow. And honestly, the Handmaid portions are getting old. We get it - the Commanders are gross perverts. I think it would be refreshing to have a Commander that isn't, and that isn't Lawrence, for once. I predict Janine survives poisoning and becomes an Aunt. [/quote]
