I am French and we all know that Putin started this mess, through a delirium of grandeur. 
American intelligence was key to a correct assessment of the threat, and they had a job to do to persuade certain European nations (France among them), who well remembered their bogus WMD claims in Iraq.
However we have all come together to combat the ridiculousness that is Putin's Russia. 
We are happy that American intelligence was right this time, and we'll put more faith in them next time. You don't seem to realize that the USA is coming out of this smelling like roses.
