Curious to how much tech has been used the first two days. My kid said they logged in yesterday and today used it for 20 mins to research something for an assignment. This is 6th grade. Honestly, I am fine with my kid using tech as long as they are not on it all day.
I teach third grade. Our grade level doesn’t plan on having them log in until next week at the earliest. After that they won’t be using their laptops daily. They didn’t last year. It will vary.
Why do 3rd graders need to be on laptops at all? These kids missed 1/3rd of K, all of a normal forsr Grade and had tons of covid disruptions last year and probably too much laptop time. Let them have one normal year of quality education.
Totally agree. And they didn’t get a chance to learn to write properly with pen and paper. The last thing my son needs is more screen time.
If they're going to copy something off a website, forcing them to write it out by hand rather than simply cut and paste would be more beneficial for their penmanship in grades k-3.
