Sped services have gotten out of control in MCPS. At my school at least one-third of the kids have an IEP or 504. How is it special education if it is being applied to practically everyone? Any kid struggling in school is given an IEP. Like there can be literally no other reason a kid struggles in school. The accompanying paperwork is overwhelming for staff and teachers.
Or maybe COVID pushed a lot of kids over the edge
And covid sent special ed over the edge as well. We now have more kids who fell behind, and the solution has become give them an IEP. Which means instead of using resources to actually help students catch up, we use resources to hold meetings, test students, and write IEPs that may not even be needed.
And who was primarily responsible for that? MCEA, by fighting to keep schools closed. There's a pattern here.
You’re just so… stupid. I feel so sorry for you.
