When they did, they were rooting for a hostile treasonous foreign country responsible for the senseless deaths of 600,000 Americans for no good reason other than to maintain barbaric slavery as an institution.  So yeah, traitors.

Plus, carrying the confederate flag into battle was nowhere near as big of a tradition as maybe you'd fancy it to be.[/quote]
