I am struggling to figure out what difference it makes? She followed the law and charged the guy with a crime that should stick, rather than one that won’t. The charge carries a stiff penalty in the state of NY. She didn’t pen the no bail law; she had to make a hard decision because it exists - risk having him found not guilty of first degree, though there would be bail set or have him found guilty of second degree, knowing there would be no bail set. If she used her position as co-chair to railroad him into greater charges, THAT would be an issue for me. [/quote]

You sound deluded.  Other DAs state he could easily have been charged with a greater offence.  Zeldin is using the attack - and hte quick rlelease -  as a campaign issue and the DA who let the guy go just *happens* to be his campaign co chair?  GMAFB
