My kid’s top three when the dust settled were UVA (Echols but no $, OOS), Lehigh (Eckhardt Scholar, 1/2 merit), Tulane (full ride, + competitive research position w stipend). I was pulling for Lehigh, spouse pulling for UVA. We agreed we would cover undergrad, so kid would not have any debt. Kid is super practical, want to keep college fund ($200k) fully in-tact for grad school. Committed to Tulane yesterday.
Congrats to you and your kid! Our student is at Tulane on a full scholarship, similar reasons. Prelaw and saving it up for law school. Freshman and has had many opportunities to build leadership and work with professors this year. My observation is that if a kid is motivated Tulane goes the extra mile in supporting them.
