The funny thing is, the unvaccinated aren't the ones that are demanding continued restrictions.

I have several unvaccinated family members. They stopped worrying about the pandemic a long time ago, and never really followed any of the restrictions or guidelines. They've made their choice, and are willing to live with the risks. [/quote]

True elsewhere in the country but [b]in DC there is a substantial population that refuses to get vaccinated, opposes vaccine mandates, but also wants masks worn forever to "protect" them

I don't think we know that.  Do you have some supporting documentation for this belief?  I think it's conceivable that you have people that don't want to be vaccinated and ALSO support mask optional in schools.  For what reasons, I don't know, but I don't understand not wanting to vax at this stage.[/quote]
