Guys, there’s 340 kids in APS that reported Covid positive right now. Those are just the ones that Have reported. 50 at Wakefield alone. Oakridge reported 19 in the past last 24 hours. Community spread is extremely high, so obviously testing is important. Don’t spite yourselves, test your kids and send them in a high-quality mask. If you want schools to stay open, that is.
Why are we asymptomatically testing? Almost every kid at Wakefield is vaccinated, meaning most likely those are all asymptomatic positives. DO NOT TEST!!! No restaurants are asymptomatically testing. No gyms are asymptomatically testing. No where else is. This is just a way to shut schools down. That is it. The closed school advocates will stop at nothing to shut schools down.
Honestly, the logic of "the restaurants aren't doing it," and "the gyms aren't doing it" is just absurd. Since when have those two sectors been the gold standard for educating and protecting children's public health? Most kids aren't even allowed in gyms. Look, I get your point that other places are less restrictive so why should schools create a safer environment. Do you hear your immense privilege there? You life experience as taught you that if there is an easier or more convenient way to do something, they you should be entitled to that. Some of us have had the life experience that others are given or take short cuts and things work out fine while if we try that we pay for it for the rest of our lives.
You're wanting to put the burden of COVID mitigation solely on children. That's disgusting. We know how low of risk children have with COVID (less than the risk they take riding in a car to school). COVID will be here forever. Everyone will get it. This is just putting the burden on children, so you can unsuccessfully try to avoid a virus that everyone will get. And you're penalizing children. Absolutely disgusting. DO NOT OPT IN TO THIS TESTING! IT IS SCHOOL CLOSURES BY STEALTH
