People are thinking anecdotally, and, even then, I can think of lots of instances from a couple years ago. Stats are not up this year. Also, to those who keep emphasizing the SRO at Oxford HS. The shooter was not apprehended before the deputy arrived from the 911 call. So the SRO could have as easily been another county officer or deputy and had the same effect. All that aside, I would defer to the principals (or at least my kids' principals -- I know they are not all equal, but I have full confidence in the ones at my kids' schools) on whether or not to advocate for SROs. They have a full comprehension of the day to day risks of having them or not having them.[/quote] You can trust a principal but once a gun enters the school and there is a shooting do you want police 5-10 minutes away or right there?
