The email from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 44, seen by Indie Wire, called the incident an "accidental weapons discharge." "A live single round was accidentally fired on set by the principal actor, hitting both the Director of Photography, Local 600 member Halyna Hutchins, and Director Joel Souza," the email said. "Local 44 has confirmed that the Props, Set Decoration, Special Effects, and Construction Departments were staffed by New Mexico crew members. There were no Local 44 members on the call sheet." https://www.insider.com/alec-baldwin-prop-gun-contained-live-round-union-says-2021-10
So the weapons/prop manager was not a union member? Any posters know if there is more than one union for props managers?
So was there any props manager on set? That union is clearly stating no one from their union was on set. Can anyone decode this for me? Maybe an inexperienced non-union weapons manager on set?
The statement is that nobody from that union local (Local 44), which is based in LA. It's possible there was somebody from a different local or different union on site.
