These attacks do not include the mauling of several people. They do not include the countless attacks pitbulls inflict on other animals, such as carriage horses ( https://toofab.com/2021/04/07/carriage-driver-trampled-as-pitbull-attacks-horse-in-wild-video/ ), dogs in their own back yard ( https://www.counton2.com/news/local-news/dorchester-county-news/two-dogs-mauled-by-group-of-pit-bulls-in-summerville-neighborhood/ ), and dogs being walked by their owners ( https://www.tapinto.net/towns/sutton-place-slash-lenox-hill/sections/law-and-justice/articles/harlem-couple-s-dog-fatally-attacked-by-pit-bull ). These don't include the maulings from this year, where the victims survived, or killings from last year, or the past 10 years. The problem is, pit bulls were bred to fight. These dogs are doing exactly what they are being bred to do, attack without warning and hang on until its opponent is dead. Rescues are encouraging people to bring more of these animals into the community, when they act as though it is normal to have a pet dog that wants to kill other dogs or to have a dog that is dangerous around children. That is normal for a household to have a few pet dogs that must be kept separate, crated and rotated, so they don't kill each other. That is is adorable for a dog to need a home with "single women only please", because it is so reactive towards men it will maul them. There is no possible place for these dogs to exist. Where does a dog that wants to kill other dogs live? In the city, where every walk is a danger, where if it gets loose it will kill the neighbor's pet in its own backyard? In the country, where it can attack the neighbor's livestock and harass horses? Where does a dog that is dangerous towards children live? In an "adult only house", next door to, across the street from, a family with children? What happens when the kids are playing on the front lawn, and that dog slips through the open front door? It used to be that a dog that attacked a child or harassed other animals relentlessly was "brought out behind the barn", where the problem was solved. Now these dogs have their own lobbies in the government, that work to convince people that this is normal, safe dog ownership. https://www.nationalpitbullvictimawareness.org/pit-bull-lobby/ We are allowing the recuses, shelters, and pit bull lobby groups to create a dangerous world for innocent children and pets, and ultimately allowing them to destroy the special relationship that people have cultivated with dogs for thousands of years. People domesticated dogs to create a partnership and bring enjoyment to our lives, not to hurt our children and pets. [/quote]
