Considering BRYC. For those who have played with more than one club, what do you like or dislike about BRYC? Please only respond if you have a comparison to draw and not an axe to grind / propaganda to push. In other words, thoughtful feedback, please.
You really have to specify whether you're talking boys or girls. They're two completely separate programs and perspective on one is completely useless for the other.
Boys - pre to early teen.
You should look at Burke AC for that age boys. BRYC is really a mess They will tell you anything to get your money. If you look at standings of the boys in that age range you'll see there is nothing Elite about them.
For what it's worth, my son is 08 ECNL and we are happy with his team and coach. I feel his team has a lot of talent on it, just missing a few pieces. He loves both his team and coach and has been developing a lot as a player, so we plan on staying put next year.
We feel this way on the girls side too. Much happier here than our old club nearby.
We are in that age group at BRYC. It's fine, my son has grown as a player, they do need a few new kids to bring it together. Coaching is fine, they are competetive in their division. Nice kids, parents and location. Price is cheaper than Mclean and SYC at ECNL level. I read these posts and feel like I'm at a different club. I think there are maybe three bashers that Post over and over, and based on their outdated information aren't even there. Is it perfect? No. Depends on your goals, for us, now, it fits the bill.
Our son is a new add to next year's ECNL roster and has every intention of making sure BRYC starts winning more. You can complain or you can do something about it. What are the parents doing to better prepare their kids to win? Coaching is one factor in success - just one. Players and support group also play a role.
