About $3m. A 2018 Civic and a 2012 CRV. I don't live the life of an ascetic - we don't particularly care about cars, and have other expensive hobbies, so see no need to spend more than necessary on a car. For us, it would be a waste. For others, it isn't - if an expensive car makes you happy, and you can afford it, then have at it. I really don't get the judgment, on both sides.
+ 1. Our NW is about double PPs and we drive a 16 y.o. minivan and a 10 y.o sedan. I have a good job, great family and big hands so don't have to compensate for anything by driving a flashy car.
I am the PP, and although I appreciate the +1, you obviously didn't read the entire post. You missed the part about not getting the judgment, and if an expensive car makes you happy, then get one.
Haha I was about to say the same thing. In my case I enjoy a really nice car. It’s what makes me happy. I’m sure these people with high net worths have hobbies or otherwise spend their money on stuff. I’m sure I’d think something one of these other people spent money on was “stupid” but we all make choices. You may not understand why I own a classic Defender and just bought a new one. I spend way too much time looking at them and photographing them and cleaning them and driving them off road and camping etc. it’s my hobby.
