I think Einstein is a fine school. I don't know why so many people from elsewhere say such terrible things about it. I do find it ridiculous about how many Einstein people brag about how secret rich they are (maybe so, but income data is available by census tract so doesn't really relate to discussion of the whole community) and how they are constantly agitating to have TOK zoned to their school (if it's so great as-is, why do you even care)? I'm not TOK btw. I'm guessing it's just status anxiety, maybe justifiable given how big of jerks some of the other posters attacking the school are.
The point is that people are saying folks on the other side of the tracks are poor and not their equals. Many of us are very comfortable but have different priorities. I want my house paid off, not have to worry and be able to comfortably pay for college and graduate school as financial aid and merit are not a given. Most of us don't want the redistricting of TOK as Einstein is already overcrowded. The overcrowding without a renovation is going to make things worst vs. better. But, doubtful Einstein will get a renovation soon given the population vs. a W school, even one that's had multiple renovations.
Stop worrying about what others think. You’ll be happier. Giving justifications just plays into your insecurity. Live your life free from the opinion of others.
I don’t think the PP feels insecure; they are clarifying and correcting some false assumptions relevant to assertions about Einstein. Calm down and stop ‘splaining.
You know not letting the trolls troll is the literal definition of being insecure. Churchill parents wouldn't even respond if you called it a poor ghetto school. Now if someone called it a racist bastion of privilege, you will get some responses. Push back is a sign of acknowledgment. Most Einstein parents know the schools limitations, they just don't like them rubbed in their faces so they over compensate and look like fools in the process. Such as we are all rich $300k families living in cheap small homes and willing to send our kids to a school with 2/3 of the kids at or near the poverty line. A few dual feds sure but not many. Most people know that a school with 66% poor kids is a problem and that is why most middle class parents wouldn't ever consider it. Save us your stupid response that the kids who are previous FARMs are now among the $300k families. Most middle class kids have never taken free meals from the county. The 66% FARMs or previous FARMs rate form the county records https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/Glance/currentyear/schools/04789.pdf
If you're an elitist, yes, that would be a problem.
It is no secret that the schools in low SES neighborhoods perform poorly. Do you disagree with that? - DP
