As someone who grew up both in Nova AND MoCo (and who attended the Univ of MD, College Park) I can tell you that both areas are very similar. They are both diverse, both lean liberal, both have great neighborhoods and great schools. Anyone arguing that the MD and VA DC area suburbs are different just doesn't know what they are talking about!
Nope, you just don’t have an eye for detail. There is nowhere in suburban VA that has the type of pre WW2 SFHs that Chevy Chase has, not even close. The only places with homes like that are in NW DC. Beyond that, Bethesda is much nicer than Arlington and cute, green, parklike neighborhoods within walking distance to commuter rail with grand Victorian homes (Garrett Park) don’t exist in NoVA. Where in VA can you get a home like this within a 5 minute walk to a commuter rail that takes 20 minutes to get to DC, especially in a 8/10 school district? https://www.redfin.com/MD/Garrett-Park/4701-Waverly-Ave-20896/home/10501974
PP here. For charm like this at this price, you’d have to go to Del Rey and live in a flipped bunglow on a 6,000 sq ft lot in a 2/10 school district zoned for TC Williams.
