The 2020 Spring season has been either cancelled or postponed til 2021. Why folks keep arguing?
Actually, it hasn't. No matter how many times you post the same thing. It hasn't.
Well US Club soccer has everything closed until at least May 18. US Youth Soccer has everything closed until at least May 15. Only irresponsible clubs and leagues are pretending that the season can be magically delivered in those remaining (potential) 6 weeks of May and June. If these guys were honest, rational actors, they would have made the cancellation announcements weeks ago. They just don’t want to deal with the fact they did not deliver their product and therefore need to return money.
Postponed until fall of 2021 is what is being disputed. Not spring 2020.
Well however because some folks are neglecting to wait until it is the right time to go back to normal, things will look worse in fall and winter. Folks that are not patient those who cannot wait for at least one more month will regret it when in fall we all get back into quarantine.
This is exactly the problem. You truly do not understand what the purpose of lockdown is. Flattening the curve merely reduces the rate at which infection occurs. It does not change the amount of infection likely to occur. Locking down does not make the virus go away. So if we were at exponential infection rates that would crash ICUs, your point would be correct. Lockdown would be correct and it would be foolish for people to be out and about. Once we are not in that situation, lockdown lifts, infection rates rise, and we try to avoid crashing the ICUs. If everybody stayed in for another few months, you will have done nothing but push off the time at which infection rates will rise again. You will get a "Second" and Third Wave in either situation, with a Second Wave potentially worse BECAUSE everybody has been locked down. We are just pushing waves of infection out and pushing herd immunity further and further out. And please, this has nothing to do with patience. It has to do with privilege, wealth, fear and an assumption everybody should be satisfied with an unemployment check, no education, and no healthcare other than corona care. That is ludicrous.
