Actually, we are also tired of seeing subway tiles everywhere are are specifically NOT going to do subway tiles in the shower. I hate grout, so we are looking at 12x24 tiles both for the floor and the tub surround. Our vanity is dark (the tub, toilet, and sinks are/will be white) but the pictures you posted were interesting.
