Ok, but then why do more large public MCPS make the list than large FCPS schools? That was my question.
Because of U.Va. Big percent of the class at TJ goes to U.Va. Md. doesn't have an equivalent.
Wrong, about 40% Blair magnet students go to UMD, which is actually a STEM powerhouse while UVA is not. One has to wonder why go to all the troubles of going to TJ just to end up at UVA.
:D Really? U.Va ranked #28 U.Md ranked #64 That's a big difference.
Wow!!! I guess reading comprehension is not your forte. Key word :STEM Do you know what is that?
Well, I mean if you REALLY want the info: https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/university-of-maryland-2103/overall-rankings https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/virginia-tech-3754/overall-rankings https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/university-of-virginia-main-campus-234076/overall-rankings MD is #25 in engineering for undergrad (STEM) Virginia Tech is #25. Virginia Tech is considered the lower of the two schools by TJ grades, but you know. Since you want STEM equivalents.
You do know that STEM is not only Engineering, right? There is, for example, computer science. You moved the goalposts from UVA to VT, which is unranked in graduate Engineering.
Yeah, but we’re not comparing grad programs. So you’re comparing programs that high school seniors aren’t even considering. And if you really wanted to compare singular programs, you are number 16 at one thing. Big whoop. VT has #4 Industrial, #9 in civil, and #10 in environmental. As I was trying to compare common, overall stem programs, you know to level the playing field for you to understand. Because engineering schools average out multiple, commonly know stem fields vs well, just one. While we are comparing singular programs like they make a school a juggernaut in a whole field: UVA has the number 8 business schools, number 8 in marketing, number 6 in management. It may not rank as high in computer science, but that’s just one thing. We have at least 3. And the top public school ranking for UVA is still number #4: just after Berkeley. Where is UMD? Oh yeah. #24. .... You know, you keep throwing out this STEM thing, but it really sounds like you like to look at outlier data vs overall data. Which makes sense if you have an over inflated sense of superiority. Good to know that MOCO makes sure all of its students have a good sense of confidence. Gold stars for you!!!
