My DD plays U13 at a local development club that has neither ECNL or DA. She is interested in playing HS ball and is looking at ECNL as an option. McLean, Bethesda, Loudon and MUFC are options with BRYC being possible but a true headache. We have played several of the teams in tournaments and they all seem well-coached. My impression is that McLean does the best job with the older age groups. I would be interested in hearing about positive and negative experiences with the clubs.
What this thread should reveal, OP, is that trying to identify the best local development based on infromation at older age groups is irrelevant, at recruiting age groups is irrelevant. That one of the best teams in ECNL in our area at 05 and older is supposedly mostly due to recruits at each successful year, is not a nod towards player development. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but at least recognize it for what it is. The coaches arent irrelevant to success, but lets gove credit where credit is due.
Depending on where you live... BRYC, McLean, MD United, Bethesda, VDA. All solid options.
So if Loudoun could just score that one more “for a draw” goal against VDA and Mclean, they would be included in your list? Thats basically adding “arlington” players to your roster.
