I think she is choosing her strategy wisely and I also think she will come out ahead. Now she might still do time but this will be a Martha Stewart type of rebirth. She will be fine and is willing to do the repair work. People will want her story more now than ever and she's deciding to steer that ship.
How in the world does anyone think she will come out ahead with this? I do think it will eventually die down and it's not necessarily the death of her career, but i do think there will be lasting damage.
1. Marion Barry was elected after the GD Bitch set him up. 2. Trump was elected president after the audio was released. 3. Martha Stewart. She could definitely end up okay.
G Marion Barry and Donald Trump both have people who support their politics and would vote for them regardless. And I think insider trading is viewed somewhat differently than paying $500,000 to have your kid sit on a rowing machine and be recruited for a sport she never played.
Luann de Lesseps wrote a book on class, did this: https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/videos/luann-de-lesseps-threatens-to-murder-cop-in-this-arrest-video/ She now had a sold out caberet show. Others who bounced back: drew barrymore, Robert Downey, jr, Winona rider, mark wahlberg, Tim Allen, woody Allen, Brian Williams, bill Clinton,
Sure, but none of them relied on a "good girl" persona to make a living, and none of them willfully committed fraud. Let's look at the women. What is the issue with Drew, that she did drugs and was a little out of control in her 20s? She didn't hurt anyone and she grew up, so who cares. Winona Rider is a better comparison, but her career never did recover (she was an A list movie star and now ?) and people are accepting that mental illness was a factor there. It took her a long time to even begin to get back in the game, and she was an internationally famous Oscar-nominated actress. Martha Stewart is a better example, but most people don't care about white collar crimes like insider trading, which tend to be viewed as "victimless" and she was never thought to be a nice person anyway. Some of the other people you list are total jerks or are guilty of minor infractions, but haven't done anything illegal. Even Woody Allen wasn't convicted of anything, though his career now seems to be over in the wake of "Me Too." It's hard to find a criminal whose former livelihood depended on being thought of as nice and wholesome. For reality stars, being jerks is part of their schtick. But as this thread makes clear, it's her current attitude pissing people off though I don't think more than the crime itself.
