Kate will be Queen Consort and the mother of the Prince of Wales someday and Meghan will only be a Duchess. Rose won’t even be a footnote.
I’m sure that’s what they said about Diana, Camilla, and Sarah. Thirty years later Diana is still not Queen, also dead, and divorced. Also not a mother of a King. Camilla is the future Queen, alive and on the arm of the Prince of Wales. Sarah is a cheater and laughingstock but accepted by the Royals.
If Diana had not divorced Charles, she would be Queen Consort and alive. Kate came into the marriage much more mature and prepared than 19 year old Shy Di.
Diana didn’t divorce Charles. HE divorced her and stripped her of everything. She begged him to stop seeing Camilla, treating her like a fool (inviting Diana to dinner with Camilla and Camilla’s husband), and be a good husband. He couldn’t or wouldn’t. The compulsion was too strong.
Also, she was crazy.
I keep reading here that Diana was crazy, but I was too young to really have any idea what she was actually like. How was she crazy?
She was incredibly young and still messed up from her parents’ divorce when she married Charles. She was very emotionally needy, and when Charles didn’t meet those needs, she became agitated, shouted, cried, threatened suicide, even threw herself down the stairs in a bid for his attention. It ended up driving him further away. She was also bulimic. Crazy is a poor way to describe her, but she did have mental health problems and no way to get proper treatment within the confines of British Royal life.
