Many kids are going to state schools due to cost.  That doesn't mean they are the better school.  It just means more are applying.  Every school on there but [b]Arizona and Ohio is better than Maryland in my opinion[/b].  [/quote]

The Common Data sets tell us otherwise.

UMD-CP and Northeastern are very similar vis-a-vis the Common Data Sets.

Many kids are going to state schools because they are good schools with a high-performing student body.
