New poster with first-hand experience to share. As PP stated, yes some of the strippers are in school and end up with very reputable degrees, great jobs, decent and rich husbands. Some dance to pay for college, others come from well to-do families and have college/apartment paid for by parents and dance to pay for Chanel bags, shoes, vacations, and fancy drinks/dinners. On the other hand, many more of them are young single mothers, young single women who did not go beyond high school, and/or have shitty family, poor family, poor supports, from the projects, what have you. Some are prostitutes on the side. I found that most who were had clients from the club or were high class call girls on the side $$$$$$. Many made six figures working very part time. Then there is the middle ground - the girls with modest backgrounds. They may come from a stable or "good" family that does not have money or does not emphasize/value academics/education. They move on not to the ivy league but rather to things like licensed massage therapist, ultrasound tech, makeup artist, LPN. So there are really, truly all different types of strippers. Yes, some are Eastern European with poor English who set off alarm bells for trafficking. There have been circumstances where it seemed as though a girl or two had a crazy boyfriend or pimp who didnt work at the club but who was sharing in the profits from her work there. You can find all of these different "kinds" of dancers working in the same club. My experience is that the more educated and financially stable women work in the "upscale" clubs, but do so alongside all of the aforementioned. The standards for hiring in the upscale clubs are to be attractive, well put together, and passable as "classy", in the strip club sense of the word. Long stripper "gowns" and rhinestone necklaces, for example. No neon G string body suits and patent leather thigh high boots. I would like to add this: 1. All of the aforementioned "kinds" of strippers tend to drink a veritable shit-ton of alcohol. Many, many dancers dabble in cocaine. The customers also like to dabble - and this was most common amongst married rich white males, often working in industries such as banking/finance. 2. To say that there is "no sex in the champagne room" is a blatant lie. Even and perhaps especially in the upscale clubs. There are people who are doing it.
