There are some great playgrounds and the outdoor pools are less expensive than the ones in DC. Because I had friends in the area, I bought a monthly pass to the pool, so we could meet up with the kids. For my family to swim all month, was what we would pay for 2 visits at a MoCo pool. (DC residents get free pools, but the facilities are not as nice/fun. The pool we went to had several slides and an obstacle course etc).

Watkins regional park is super cool - and we’ve been to a nice open gym session at the sports complex.

The schools choices I would probably have to go on the reputation / I don’t have personal experience. One friend had a child there for K, but moved out of state afterward. The K experience was good. Other friend has her kids in private.

There is a lot of new development going on to improve walk and bike ability.

It is certainly more affordable to buy a home, but my understanding is that taxes are higher. (I’ve been told, don’t know anything for certain.) [/quote]
