BTW, DD at Yale (junior) has not had any security concerns. We really love New Haven. Of course, further away from campus there are some sketchy areas, but the campus and surrounding streets feel quite safe.
Glad you like Yale, but saying "we really love New Haven" is pushing it, don't you think, even by the gushy boosterism standards of DCUM.
Thank you. I'm laughing over that. DC spent two weeks at Yale for a program and turned down New Haven because of the town area.
If the "town area" makes you laugh then you'd bust a gut at UChicago, Columbia, and UPenn.
x1000 Clearly the ^^PP has never been to any of those schools. Sheesh. Frankly, our kid was very much considering Columbia and UPenn but chose Yale because of the campus so I guess we're another family that really likes Yale and New Haven. Agree that after the 5-6 block perimeter of campus there can be some sketchy areas but, really, that is pretty typical and who is going that far from campus anyway? Our kid was JE so right next to the Green but we especially like the new dorm complex that was built and how integrated it is into the campus and its architecture. I guess different strokes for different folks.
