Agreed, a spirited rivalry between 2 always excellent teams.  Classic case of helicopter parents who were frightened by a horde of preppy males chanting loudly (for sure), sometimes cleverly, sometimes not, and one of these chants perceived to be politically incorrect, which was (and still is), debatable.

Rather than using the incident as a teaching moment highlighting things like understanding different perspectives, a decision was made to avoid the problem and essentially cut off diplomatic relations.

I was at Georgetown a couple of years ago to watch the girls DCSAA finals and stayed to watch the boys game.  I had to move my seat because of crazy WIS parents losing it (loudly and continuously).  It was a small subset and some other WIS parents looked embarrassed but it made enough of an impression that I remember it.  (I also remember a WIS player getting a red card for literally jumping into the opposing student section to taunt them after WIS scored.). So maybe the two schools thought the temperature was too high.   Not the worst decision when the emphasis is meant to be on the soccer, not a clash of fan bases.[/quote]
