If one of us has the "BIG" job (long hours, stress, consistent evening work, and/or travel) the other one scales back to a 9-5. I live in NW DC and almost everyone I know (about 100 families) has this arrangement. [/quote] I don't think this is all that easy for people who aren't great networkers. And one of the terrors of moving to a new job is that many employers are trying to replace someone who was doing the jobs of two or three ordinary people. The new job may require longer hours than the old job and bring new job stress.
