You can't look at the acceptance rate. Those that apply to VT are self-selecting.  Look at the GPAs for Va Tech:

Estimated GPA Requirements
High School GPA	Freshmen Within Range	Admission Chances
3.75+	                 77%	                               Good

3.25 to 3.50	                5%	                               Reach
3.00 to 3.25	           3%	                              Reach

that's from google. My engineering-interest son was told 4.0 average GPA to apply as an engineer.[/quote]
