I had the choice between Duke v. UVA Echols. Went with Duke.  All these many years later, I still am not sure it was the right or wrong decision.  I got a good education at Duke but I imagine I would have ended up in pretty much the same place if I had gone to UVA.  I must have missed all those great connections people are claiming to get from going to Duke.  For those of you who went to Duke, you know there is a large social divide between private school kids vs. MC or UMC public school kids.  The social environment is not for everyone.

If my kids were to have the same choice and $$ is not a factor, I would say there is no wrong decision - chose what is the better fit for the child.  If it comes down to money and going into massive debt, Duke is probably not worth the extra $$.  [/quote]
