Talking on your phone in public is rude. At the gym, on the metro, at the grocery store, wherever. A quick "hi we're calling to confirm your appointment" is fine, but conversations? Not ok in public ever, even without speakerphone. Have your long conversations in private. [/quote]

umm...your weird. Nothing wrong with having a conversation.  Do you whisper to your friends when you're out in public together?  God forbid people hear your conversation then!  Oh wait, it's not over the phone so it's not rude in that case...riiight.   :roll: [/quote]

Not at all the same. Speakerphone is actually better than just hearing someone talk on the phone - one-way "conversations" are grating to listen to.
