[/quote] Are you serious? Whether or not the problem itself was appropriate, of course it is ok to struggle and stretch to reach the next level of competence at something. If you just keep doing things that are easy for you, you're not moving forward. My son is in 2nd grade and struggles with reading. I could keep letting him read the same level 1 books that are for first graders over and over, or have him work on level 2 books, which are harder for him, and makes him feel bad about himself because he hates getting stuff wrong.
