MIL #1 is much more difficult to buy for in that she has all the money in the world, and has particular tastes. Last year, she had mentioned wanting to buy a Le Creuset cookware set, so I we gave her a piece of Le Creuset along with a cookbook and a Christmas ornament.

In previous years we have given her pottery and things like that.

This year it might just be an ornament, a family photo, and something my kid makes for her.

For MIL #2, she likes knitting, so we often get her knitting supplies along with a gift card to a knitting store. This year, I find myself wishing photographers weren't so expensive because I know she would LOVE if it I were to hire a pro to come spend a couple of hours with the family over the holidays when everyone is in town. Christmas Day would be great, except I'm sure no photographer on earth works on Christmas Day.
