Why is that? You clearly have a computer so why, in this day and age, would you not expose your child to it? I cannot understand. Limiting time playing on the computer is understandable, but not introducing it to get your child comfortable on it sounds so 1990. Is there a reason?[/quote]

I thought we were talking about the Cogat - which means 2nd graders and 7 year olds. FCPS has kindergarteners using computers on a regular basis, so I'm not sure why it's ridiculous to think second graders would have a basic level of computer literacy and using a mouse.[/quote]

Not PP but we try to keep our kids off the computer, we like them to be outside running around or in the house playing games, coloring, crafts, reading, etc.... Aside from school they have no exposure to computers in our house. [/quote]

I completely understand the need for balance, and I'm all about kids being outdoors and doing a variety of activities. But if someone realizes that computers are used in school, it would seem a bit too rigid to shield your kids from computers to the extreme that selecting a choice by clicking a mouse may be outside their comfort zone. That's all.[/quote]
